Specify the NetBIOS Name Cache Timeout Period (Windows 95/98/Me)

This setting specifies the period that NetBIOS names are cached before requiring an additional name query.

Open your registry and find the key below.

Create a new string value (or DWORD for Windows 95) called "CacheTimeout" and set it to equal the number of milliseconds to cache NetBIOS names (minimum 60,000 - 1 minute).

Restart Windows for the change to take effect.

Settings:
System Key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\VxD\MSTCP]
Name: CacheTimeout
Type: REG_DWORD (DWORD Value)
Value: Time in milliseconds (Default =360,000)
